This was the first photography class offered at CAS in many years. The students learned the history of photography, the technical workings of a SLR and digital camera, and the use of value, space, light and texture.
They were given landscape, still life and portrait assignments.
The Landscape was used to explore how contrast creates Movement, or Emphasis on specific point.
The Still Life was used to explore how film graininess and surface texture can affect mood.
The Portrait was used to explore focal length can be used to emphasize foreground or background and how how value changes can create a feeling of asymmetrical balance.
